SUS FOUNDATION OF CANADA was federally incorporated on May 11, 1965 as a charitable foundation.
Our mission: To receive donations, contributions and legacies and to invest those assets in accordance with the by-laws of the foundation.
Our vision: To use or to grant to other organizations such portion of the income of the corporation as the board may deem proper for the preservation and advancement of education and of the Ukrainian Culture in Canada.
SUS Foundation of Canada was established through the vision of Theodore Humeniuk. Theodore Humeniuk was deeply involved in many Ukrainian organizations; one being a member Ukrainian Self Reliance League of Canada (CYC). Mr. Humeniuk saw a need to establish a foundation for future financial support of Ukrainian Cultural in Canada and contributed the first $50,000 donation to start the endowment fund. The first directors were Theodore Humeniuk, Anna Tokarek, Stephan Peterson Klimasko, Paul Kit, Savella Stechisin, Nestor Hrabowski and Nicholis Evanetz.
The Foundation provides financial assistance predominately but not exclusively to component organizations and affiliates of the Ukrainian Self Reliance League of Canada and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada.
The Foundation acknowledges the guiding principles of the Ukrainian Self Reliance League of Canada.
